Iran, Algeria Eye Russian Subs

MOSCOW [MENL] -- At least two Middle East navies have been examining the
prospect of procuring submarines from Russia.
Russian industry sources said Algeria and Iran were examining
Russian-origin submarines in what could result in procurement in 2010. The
platforms were identified as the Project 636- and Amur-1650-class
submarines, the subjects of briefings at the International Naval Show-2009
in St. Petersburg.
