U.S. RESOLVED NOT TO INCREASE TROOPS IN IRAQ

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. military, despite the specter of civil war,has resolved not to increase its troop level in Iraq. Officials said the U.S. military command in Iraq has urged the DefenseDepartment to continue with plans to reduce the American troop presence inthe country. They said Iraqi, rather than U.S., soldiers, must be deployedto battle rising sectarian violence.
