L-M TESTS COMMON MISSILE FOR URBAN WARFARE

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has advanced in a project to developa missile common to the army, navy and air force. The Defense Department has sponsored the Joint Common Missile Program,designed to develop a Hellfire missile common to all military services. Theprogram, the first to be approved by the Joint Requirements OversightCommittee under the new Joint Capabilities Integration and DevelopmentSystem process, has entered the risk mitigation segment of the SystemDevelopment and Demonstration contract.
