U.S. TACKLES CHALLENGE OF MULTIPLE WARHEADS

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States, in an effort being monitored byMiddle East allies, has begun tackling the challenge of defending Americantroops against enemy ballistic missiles with multiple warheads. The Defense Department has launched a project that would develop aninterceptor that could launch miniature kill vehicles to destroy missilesthat contain multiple warheads. The kill vehicle would also be capable ofdistinguishing between real enemy missiles and decoys.
