TURKEY PROTECTS STATE-OWNED DEFENSE FIRMS

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has moved to protect its state-owned defenseindustry. Parliament has passed legislation that would maintain the privilegedstatus of defense firms owned by the Turkish military. The law would provideanadvantage to such companies as Aselsan, Havelsan and Turkish AerospaceIndustries, three of the leading defense contractors in the country.
