Iranian Incursion Meant To Warn U.S.

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iran's takeover of an Iraqi oil well marks a warning to
the United States amid Western pressure on Teheran to stop its uranium
enrichment program, a report said.
The open-sourced intelligence consultant Stratfor has asserted that
Teheran ordered the Dec. 18 raid by Iranian troops into Iraq's Maysan
province in an effort to foil any U.S. effort to impose international
sanctions on Iran. Stratfor, in a report by director George Friedman,
said Iran wanted to demonstrate its ability to harm the U.S. economy by
sparking an energy crisis.
