PKK Smuggles Rockets Into Turkey

ANKARA [MENL] -- The Kurdish Workers Party has smuggled rockets into Turkey.
The Turkish intelligence community has determined that the PKK has
smuggled Russian-origin rockets, launchers and a range of bombs into Turkey
in 2008. Officials said the intelligence assessment asserted that the PKK was
bringing the weapons from the autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
"The terrorists have been storing weapons in different areas of Turkey,
particularly the southeast," an official said. "The idea is to bring these
weapons north to such cities as Ankara and Istanbul."
