Assad Still Deemed In Control

LONDON [MENL] -- The regime of President Bashar Assad, despite a 14-month
revolt, was said to remain in control over most of Syria.
Western diplomatic sources said NATO has determined that the Assad
regime was not in danger of imminent collapse. The sources said Assad's
military and security forces remain intact and the regime was being
bolstered by such allies as China, Iran and Russia.
