PA OFFERS SHORT DELAY IN STATEHOOD

GAZA [MENL] -- The Palestinian Authority has stressed that any delay instatehood will be brief. PA officials said any delay recommended by the PLO Central Committee,which meets early next month, could be a matter of weeks up to the end ofthe year. But the officials said the committee plans to institute amechanism that will ensure that statehood will not be delayed indefinitely.
