TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel is quietly concerned over the direction of Syria'snew president. Israeli officials monitoring Syrian President Bashar Assad said heappears to have come under the orbit of Iran, the long-time ally ofDamascus. They said that in a departure from previous expectations Assad hasincreasingly embraced Iran and its ally in Lebanon, the Hizbullah militia.
