CONGRESS WANTS HUMAN RIGHTS PRIORITY IN EGYPT TIES

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. Congress is pressing Egypt to improve itsrecord in human rights and has called on the administration to make this apriority in relations with Cairo. Leading members of Congress said Egypt's record on human rights andreligious rights must be improved for Cairo to continue to obtain its annualaid of $2 billion a year. The issue has been raised with the Bushadministration.
