SUDANESE PROTESTS MIRROR CIVIL WAR

CAIRO [MENL] -- Sudan has been rocked by student clashes that pit Islamicfundamentalists against democratic reformers in a struggle that mirrored thecivil war in the south. The clashes have been so bloody that the University of Khartoum decidedto close indefinitely to protect both students and property. The closure ofthe university was meant to terminate a budding campaign against the Islamicgovernment in Khartoum.
