PARIS [MENL] -- Israel's Elbit Systems has debuted its new tactical radio.
Elbit Systems Land and C4I-Tadiran presented the SDR-7200 software
defined radio at Eurosatory. Executives said the SDR-7200 marked a
latest-generation radio capable of simultaneous voice and date operation.
Executives said the radio was operational with the Israel Army and has
been launched for overseas marketing. The SDR-7200 transfers data on a
single tactical network channel of 25 kilohertz at very high frequency band.
The radio was also said to be capable of transferring data at up to
115.2 kilobytes per second. Executives said the radio enables the reception
and transmission of live video.
Elbit Systems said a single radio was capable of working on more than
one network simultaneously. The company said this would reduce the number of
radios in vehicles.
At Eurosatory, Elbit Systems also exhibited its THF-8000 tactical radio
as well as Dominator. Dominator, meant to provide situational awareness via
network communications, was described as an integrated infantry combat
system geared for the unit level and individual soldier.
