U.S. RESUMES INTEREST IN TURKISH MILITARY

ANKARA [MENL] -- The United States has renewed a close relationship withTurkey's military as a balance to the Islamist government in Ankara. Turkish government sources said that after two years of chillyrelations, the U.S. military and Defense Department have resumed close tiesand cooperation with the Turkish General Staff. The sources said the U.S.military and Pentagon have increased visits to Turkey and invited Turkishgenerals to Washington for meetings meant to discuss regional issues andenhance cooperation.
