STRIKES INTENSIFY AGAINST IRAQI TROOPS

BAGHDAD [MENL] -- Sunni insurgents have intensified their campaign againstIraq's military and security forces. Insurgents have targeted military and police facilities in central andnorthern Iraq. The insurgents have employed suicide bombers as well as unitsof up to 100 fighters in attacks that killed dozens of police andsoldiers over the weekend. Iraq has 168,500 trained police and soldiers.
