IRAN OKs SECURITY TIES WITH MIDEAST NEIGHBORS

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Iran plans to sign security cooperation agreements with its neighbors.

Officials said the Iranian Interior Ministry intends to sign security accords with Oman and Turkey. They said the agreements would stipulate an intelligence exchange, training, border security and other efforts.

"There is an agreement in principle by these two countries for increased cooperation," an official said.

On Dec. 6, the Iranian Cabinet approved a proposal to sign security cooperation agreements with four countries that neighbor Teheran. They were identified as Afghanistan, Oman, Pakistan and Turkey.
