SHI'ITE REVOLT CONTINUES IN YEMEN

CAIRO [MENL] -- Despite Iran's pledges, the Shi'ite revolt continues in northern Yemen.

Thousands of Shi'ite rebels continue to battle the Yemeni military in the Saada province near the northern border with Saudi Arabia. The rebels were said to be obtaining assistance and funding from Iran and Libya.

The Yemeni Army has intensified artillery attacks on suspected rebel-held villages. On May 31, at least 15 people were killed in a Yemeni strike on Souq Al Lail in Saada.

A Yemeni shell struck a gasoline station, which went up in flames. In addition to the casualties, 35 people were injured in Souq Al Lail.
