ISRAEL, U.S. HOLD MILITARY AIR EXERCISE

TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel and the United States have launched an air force exercise.

F-16 multi-role fighters from Israel and the United States have been conducting mock dogfights and bombing runs in the southern Negev desert. The exercise by the two air forces began on June 10 and would last a week.

"The exercise was part of a multi-year working plan involving joint flights for the purpose of mutual learning and would be held annually," the military said in a statement.

The Israeli military said dozens of F-16s and F-15s were participating in the air force exercise. A military statement said the two forces were divided into red and blue and were conducting a range of scenarios
