FRANCE SEEKS MIDEAST MARKETS

PARIS [MENL] -- France has sought to expand its defense market in the Middle East.

The Paris government has sought to use its biannual aerospace exhibition to gain clients in the Middle East, North Africa and Gulf. The effort has been led by French Defense Minister Herve Morin.

"France has a range of defense systems suitable for Middle East countries, and this will be a focus at Paris [Air Show]," a French industry source said.

Morin has scheduled meetings with the defense chiefs of such Middle East countries as Israel, Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The meetings began on Monday with the opening of the Paris Air Show.
